The brainchild of interior decorator and stylist, Emma Jane Palin, Our Curated Abode is a place for everyone to ask advice, pick up conscious DIY solutions, and enhance their living space at an affordable price.

Founder
Our Curated Abode’s founder Emma Jane Palin, started her venture into the DIY world as a multi-award-winning blogger, interior decorator and stylist.
While renovating her house, Emma became tired of untrustworthy tradespeople and rising costs, leading to her completion of a Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry. During this time, the lack of a quality hardware and decorating shop in the local area became apparent, and the idea for Our Curated Abode was born.
Emma believes in accessible interior design for all, and aims to create an environment where everyone can learn, ask the “silly” questions and create a beautiful home on a budget.
You’ll find her in the shop six days a week, but be careful, she loves a natter and will easily chat about absolutely anything.

We are a DIY and Interior Store with a focus on design-led tools, eco-friendly paint, and decor from independent businesses.
We see ourselves as a community destination for all those last-minute DIY and decorating essentials that you often find you don't have when the time comes to paint, wallpaper, the list goes on.
We’ve worked with a UK manufacturer to create an eco-friendly range of paint brushes and hope to expand this range in the future (let us know if you make tools!). We have also collaborated with carbon-positive paint brand COAT on our own Our Curated Abode colours, which you can buy directly through us.

Our Curated Abode’s founder, Emma Jane Palin, has always dreamed of opening a shop with a purpose. She began training in Level Two Site Construction in 2023 and launched a pop-up shop for local creatives in December, in the same space that Our Curated Abode now resides.
Emma soon realised Ramsgate lacked a DIY store, and she found this frustrating as someone without a car. After Wilkinson’s abrupt closure, residents had no easy option for buying supplies like paint brushes, let alone quality made-to-last products. When Emma shared her idea, it became clear there was a need for a DIY space that catered to the community’s practical needs in a new way.
Our Curated Abode welcomes everyone and offers a supportive, non-judgmental approach to helping customers with their projects.

Yes! We have a range of workshops and consultation packages to suit everyone. Get in touch for bespoke requests, or if you have a project you’re unsure about.
Look out for our workshops on DIY confidence - offering skills such as how to drill, how to change a socket, how to change a sink etc . We’ll also be working with local tradespeople on longer courses for those who would like to do bigger DIY projects in the home.
Knowledge is power when it comes to DIY and we want to help as many people as possible with feeling empowered to pick up a drill and get hands on.
